Our Logo
This logo that we have created has special symbolism. Reverend Pereme Porter, our Kaumatua, has given us the name "Kakano Wairua" for the community development that we are embarking on. Kakano means seed and Wairua means spirit. So the name means Spiritual Seed or Seeds of the Spirit. Reverend Porter dedicated and blessed the name "Kakano Wairua on the 24th of October, 2010.
The logo has taken it's inspiration from this understanding of us as a church. The vine forming a cross represents our belief that the cross is a living cross and that through us the spirit continues to grow and reach out into the wider community. The number 470 is included in there because it represents the ground we (St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Glenfield) stand on. The words Kakano Wairua sit at the top where the branches reach outward because that is what we are committed to doing - reaching outward. The words St Barnabas sit at the bottom and cradles the whole. It is a reminder of the Holy Spirit that holds and inspires us and all our endeavors.
